Heading to Japan with the family for the holiday season? You’re in luck as Kikansha Thomas (Thomas the Tank Engine) Cafe opens for a limited time at the Sogo Chiba store JUNNU. Aside from the familiar characters you’ve come to know and love such as Thomas, Gordon, and Harold, you can also enjoy food and desserts with new friends Nia and other motifs. There are tons of Instagram-worthy spots plus lots of limited goods available at the store!

Kikansha Thomas celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2020. The classic character was filmed back in 1984 and is currently being broadcast in over 180 areas around the globe. In Japan, it has a history of more than 45 years since the publication of picture books and nearly 30 years since TV broadcasting.
Thomas Tunnel-no Omurice (¥1,500)
Kikansha Thomas GO! GO! Plate (¥1,200)
Hashire Thomas Island of Sodor Plate (¥1,200)
A quick look at the menu and you’ll see that there are plenty of healthy meals to choose from. The colorful Thomas Tunnel Omurice has plenty of vegetables. On the other hand, Kikansha Thomas GO! GO! Plate, which has everything from soup to fruits on a plate, is served on a plate designed by Thomas that will definitely make kids happy.
After the meal, we recommend ordering Hashire Thomas Island of Sodor Plate. It is a dessert plate designed for the Island of Sodor with pudding and cotton candy, plus Sir Topham Hatt is in it!
Gordon-no Nantekotta Sandwich (¥1,400)
Nia-no Smile Crepe (¥1,300)
The Gordon-no Nantekotta Sandwich has Gordon carrying the sandwiches while the Nia-no Smile Crepe features Nia laid out on the plate as well. You’ll want to take pictures of everything on the menu—and they’ll get lots of double-taps on Instagram for sure.

The Minna Atsumare Soda have designs featuring Thomas, Percy, and Rebecca. The colorful drinks are recommended for sharing with everyone.
