These Are the Seafood Dishes You Need to Try at the Toshi Fishing Port

In the lively Toshi Fishing Port, located in Toba City, Mie Prefecture, more than 100 kinds of fish are caught and sold annually. Among these include the Toshijima Toro Sawara (Japanese Spanish mackerel).
In this article, we introduce the excellent dishes you can find at the fishing port as recommended by the locals.
At Daiharu, you can enjoy the Toro Sawara Maki (¥1,320) which uses the Toshijima Toro Sawara. This is the specialty menu of the restaurant that combines the elegant sweetness of the Toshijima Toro Sawara and the rich flavors of seaweed nori.
Aside from this, the restaurant also offers the Toro Sawara Aburi or seared Spanish mackerel and Sashimi (¥900). It is a dish that lets you enjoy the meat belly and back meat of the fish. There are also dishes such as sushi, made with fresh seafood caught on the island, and Iseebi no Gusokuni or Boiled Lobster in Armor (from ¥2,000) available at the restaurant.
The friendly chef is happy to oblige requests from customers too. Do take note that reservations are required for lunch.

Jimono GYOKAI Kikuya is a restaurant where you can enjoy dishes using local fish that has just been purchased at the market. The dried fish are seasoned depending on their kind to bring out their full flavors. You're sure to feel the difference in the texture and taste of each dish.
Among the highly recommended dishes of the locals here is the Himono Set or dried fish set (¥1,500). This is a dish that lets you taste local fish, such as dried fish, plumped by the far-infrared effect of the lava plate, boiled fish, and sashimi.
