These Restaurants in Nagoya Serve the Best-Tasting Wagyu Beef

They offer many ways to enjoy your dish!


Nagoya cuisine Hitsumabushi
 is taking itself to a whole new level. Gyu Mabushi (Beef bowl), which uses beef instead of eels in Hitsumabushi, is introduced as a new Nagoya style cuisine. The way of eating is the same as the usual way of eating a Hitsumabushi: first, eat it as it is, second, eat it with condiments, and finally, put it in ochazuke (tea on rice). In this article, we will introduce you to two recommended restaurants for that Gyu Mabushi experience.


Niku Sawasho 


Niku Sawasho
is known for its collaboration with the famous eel and Japanese specialty restaurant Sawasho in Fushimi and the well-established meat shop Sugimoto. This restaurant offers high-quality dishes that are particular about Japanese food and meat in courses and served à la carte. For lunch, there are reasonably priced options on the menu such as Wagyu Curry (¥1,200).


The restaurant is sophisticated and is good for adults. In addition to the spacious table seats, private rooms are also available.


Wagyu Hitsumabushi
(¥3,500) is one of the most popular dishes on the entire menu. The beef in the dish has a moderate amount of fat that melts in your mouth and also has an amazing taste. Grilling it over charcoal will increase the roasting aroma. You can enjoy three levels of taste from the dish as a Hitsumabushi.


Wagyu Hitsumabushi
(¥3,500) is a collaboration by the famous eel and meat shop.


For the third cup, try to add beef bone soup and eat lightly like
ochazuke. Even though the umami flavor is added, it still has that refreshing aftertaste that would knock you over your feet!


Beef bone soup is the key to taste.

Hitsumabushi Senmon Sakai 


Gyu Hitsumabushi Senmon Sakai
is a beef Hitsumabushi specialty shop run by Osu's famous steak restaurant Binchotan steak-ro sakai. Gyu Hitsumabushi, which is popular in the main restaurant, has become well-known for its affordable meals. In the same building, a specialty Western restaurant that uses ingredients carefully selected with the help of the technology from the main restaurant was opened at the same time.


The restaurant design has a contemporary Brooklyn style decor. You’ll find a hidden space like atmosphere upon opening the heavy iron door behind the alley in Osu.

Their popular dish,
Wagyu Hitsumabushi (¥3,850 including tax), uses Wagyu fillet. Their own savory sauce is also famous for enhancing the taste of the beef. There is a luxurious dish called Gokujo Wagyu Chateaubriand Hitsumabushi that you can indulge in at ¥7,700 (including tax).
