Tea Lovers, There’s A Starbucks Branch in Japan That Specializes In Tea
Discover new flavors of this well-loved beverage.
Did you know? The birth brand of Starbucks in the U.S. was Starbucks Coffee, Tea, and Spices and as the name suggests, various tea beverages has always been a part of their main menu alongside their famous coffee drinks.
Meanwhile, Starbucks Coffee Japan has been known for providing new tea experiences to their customers through lattes and frappuccinos made with matcha and ho-ji tea--familiar tastes to the Japanese people. Since their tea variants have been receiving a lot of love, the company eventually opened Starbucks Roppongi Hills Metro Hat - Hollywood Plaza Branch last July 1 to solely serve colorful and flavorful tea beverages to their customers.
To give everyone a sneak peek of what’s new in the store, our editors visited the specialty tea branch for the first time.
Starbucks Roppongi Hills Metro Hat - Hollywood Plaza Branch can be accessed from Hibiya Line Roppongi Station.
When our editors arrived at the store, they were surprised to see how bright and gorgeous it was because of its open layout. This location which can be found at the back didn’t stand out so much before the renovation, but the classy store surely made itself distinct because of its undeniable charm.
The renewed store looks completely different from the previous one with more open spaces and changing each table with a smaller size. The wooden pattern and interior also made it look brighter and warmer, while dynamic tapestry decorations of tea from all over the world garnish the store.
The exterior looks brighter than before.
It’s now more gorgeous with tapestry decorations.
Tea Creation is served at the store which is inspired by the TEAVANA Bar in Starbucks’ innovation hub Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo. You can also enjoy new tea beverages by mixing plenty of fruits and unique tea leaves.
This beverage is a sophisticated blend of tea and fruits you can definitely enjoy. Add some ice to make it perfect for the summer season!
If there’s one thing you shouldn’t miss, it would be their signature beverage called Yuzu & Citrus Lavender Sage Tea (Hot/Iced) (Tall ¥590), with Citrus Lavender Sage Tea as its base. Enjoy the fresh scent of saji and the sweet taste of pineapples and oranges in this drink, especially the aftertaste of lavender and sage that lingers in your mouth. For a multilayered taste similar to a cocktail, citrus fruit and ruby grapefruit are also added to this special tea.
