Malebranche is known for using thick and strong matcha in their pastry confectioneries. Their matcha ice cream bars, in particular, have come so popular that everyone who visits Kyoto has to taste this creative fusion of ice cream and koicha espuma or thick tea sauce. Try the Raw Tea Ice Cream Bar at ¥250 each, and enjoy thick tea and white chocolate ice cream with koicha espuma sauce.

Tea leaves with umami and rich flavors are carefully selected.

The tea appraiser then checks the tea leaves and blends them to achieve the best balance.

Koicha Fondant Chocolat, Namacha no Ka (¥1,134 for 5 pcs) has a smooth texture like a ganache.

The shop has a sophisticated and warm atmosphere.

It’s decorated with dark and light green Shigaraki-yaki tiles (a type of pottery that originated in the Shiga Prefecture). They also provide free coffee.
