We all know how dining at seafood restaurants can be expensive these days. That’s why it’s no surprise that Sakanaya Stand Fujiko, an izakaya or restaurant selling affordable seafood dishes, is all the rage in Osaka, Japan right now. Known for drawing a line of eager diners, this seafood tavern is located near the central escalator at the basement of LUCUA Osaka, a commercial building connected to JR Osaka Station.

They only serve 50 sets of this lunch meal per day.

One of their bestselling meals that customers line up for even before opening hours is Sakanaya Fujiko-chan Teisyoku (¥1,080), a limited lunch set which includes sashimi, soup, and six other dishes of the day.

Sakana-mori or assorted sashimi (¥1,031)

Available from 4 p.m. onwards, Sakana-mori is a must-try set dish that consists of five different kinds of sashimi, such as flatfish and striped jack, personally chosen by the chef for you.

Sake or rice wine (¥410 per 90 ml.)

If you want to enjoy your meals with a bottle of wine, we suggest you come early since these drinks sell like hotcakes, especially the popular brands. You can choose from a selection of 13 kinds of sake carefully handpicked by the owner, including local ones that you can buy for a cheaper price.

Tai Tofu Mushi or steamed tofu with big sea bream fish (¥626)

Shima aji or nigiri sushi (¥410)
