Shelly Beach ~ by Manly Australian Cafe & Bar ~ is located in the center of Fukuoka City, about 10 minutes by foot from Tenjin. It’s the perfect place to catch up with friends and take amazing food photos for the ‘gram. From lovely ricotta pancakes to savory meat pies, here are a few favorites you shouldn’t miss:
Everyone loves a good old-fashioned apple pie, but Shelly Beach’s popular Apple Pie (¥1,000) gives this term a new meaning, as it was actually carried over from Cafe Pour Vous, the establishment that had been in operation in the building before Shelly Beach opened. The crispy, freshly baked pie and homemade vanilla ice cream on top makes for a perfect balance of flavors. There are even three sauces to choose from: chocolate, caramel, and W source!
The Ricotta Cheese Pancake (¥1,000) from sister store Manly is just as popular. This is a dish that gently wraps the sweetness of the dough with the richness of ricotta cheese; it’s so soft that it can be eaten without using a knife. You will become addicted to the fluffiness of its texture. The slightly sweet ricotta cheese is low-fat.
If you’re looking for something that’s a bit more filling, try the famous OZ Plate (¥1,000). Filled with ground meat and mushrooms mixed with a special tomato sauce, the meat pie, which they only make 10 times a day, was actually inspired by the store manager’s travels. It’s recommended that you pair it with beer, of which the restaurant has 50 varieties.
As the name Shelly Beach implies, the restaurant is pretty casual and laid-back. They also have a dog food menu, so you can visit with your pets.
