These Instagrammable Sweets Are Super Popular in Fukuoka
Wait until you taste them, too!
Fukuoka is a great place for cafe hopping, but these establishments prove that it’s literally a sweet spot, too!
1F 1-11-4 Daimyo, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka
Open daily from 11a.m. to 10 p.m.
DAIMYO SOFTCREAM opened in 2017 in Daimyo. Their popular Daimyo Softcream (¥480) is made with a high-grade ice cream machine that was manufactured in Italy. This good-looking and “instagenic” dessert comes in three flavors: milk, vanilla, and matcha.
For the cream, the ice cream store uses Italy’s Carpigiani ice cream machine, which makes cream from air, thereby making the ice cream very light. It has a rich taste, but you can eat it as a dessert. Even those who don’t like sweets can eat the ice cream. The Coupe Bread Softcream (¥450), which is sandwiched by newly baked bread, is also popular. The custom-made coupe bread matches well with the ice cream.
CROQUANT CHOU ZAKUZAKU Tenjin Chikagai Shop
7th Avenue Tenjin Chikagai 2 Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka-shi, Fukuoka
Open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
CROQUANTCHOU ZAKUZAKU, a cream puff shop run by BAKE, opened its first branch in west Japan in Tenjin Chikagai on Thursday, March 8th. The popular CROQUANT CHOU ZAKUZAKU (¥250 each, 4 for ¥980) is a crunchy cream puff sprinkled with almonds and croquant. It’s shaped like a stick, which is different from normal cream puffs, and looks very slender. The cream is put in after you order it, so you can enjoy the melting cream and the crunchy texture all at the same time.
At the all-in-one kitchen shop, the choux pastry made from selected ingredients is baked every day, and filled with smooth custard cream made from fresh, high quality milk drop-shipped from Hokkaido. The amazing smell of the baked choux pastries fill the shop, and you can watch all of them being filled with custard cream.
While there, you should also try the Zakuzaku Soft Milk (¥450), which is like frozen cream. It has a very soft texture, and the crunchy croquant on top is a good accent.
There are cute neon lights and logos on the concrete walls inside the shop.
Oishii Kooriya Tenjin-Minami Shop
5-14-12 Watanabedori, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka

Oishiii Kooriya, a shaved ice shop in Tojin-machi shopping street, is so popular that it has had people waiting in line for two hours. In 2017, a second shop opened in the Tenjin area. This shop is run by Kyushu-Seihyou. Check out the unique shaved ice that the company established 71 years ago.
The most popular item on the menu is Strawberry Milk (¥750). When you taste the homemade milk and Amaou (Japanese strawberry brand) sauce with mascarpone inside, it’ll feel like you’re eating a rare cheese cake. You won’t get sick of eating it because the ice and homemade milk is inside layer-by-layer. The best creation is Matcha Mascarpone (¥800). You should also try the three new items: Chocolate Snow (¥800), Yogurt Berry (¥800), and Hojicha (roasted green tea) Mont Blanc (¥800).
