This Tea Shop in Kobe Serves Rare Tea Flavors
The tea leaves are specially chosen by a Japanese tea instructor!
2F Kobe Fashion Mart, Koyochonaka 6-9, Higashinada-ku, Kobe
Open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
How to get there: It’s 2 minutes by foot from Port Liner Island Center Station.
Kobe Cayhane is a delight for anyone who is interested in trying new tea flavors.
The tea shop carries rare tea leaves, which are carefully selected by a Japanese tea expert who visits different tea plantations around Japan.
“We began with the idea of wanting everybody to know the good taste of Japanese tea. We have 100 kinds of carefully selected tea leaves,” said owner Ueki Yuhei.
Only the first-grade tea leaves of each season are used. The tea is brewed with boiling water in a teapot, which helps make the tea taste mellow. Try and compare their seasonal teas such as the Yame Tea Yametsuhime (¥600), Kagoshima Green Tea, and Uji Tea--all of which are brewed fermented teas.
The tea shop is also popular for the lunch meals they serve. The rice for the lunch meals are boiled in tea.
Kobe Cayhane’s lunch meal set: Tea House Ochazuke (Nanko-ume) (¥590) and “Salmon Contained” (¥700).
Tea boxes decorate the tea shop’s modern space. They also have tea leaves for sale as well.
