If You’re Tired of Drinking Japanese Beer, Nagoya Has a Few Alternatives

Part of the thrill of traveling is hitting up the bars and late-night joints of the locale for a taste of the local alcohol. While Nagoya has plenty of good beer, those who prefer fruit-laced drinks will be glad to know that they’re spoilt for choice as well. We round up some of the best fruit-flavored alcoholic drinks in the city.

A photogenic fruit chuhai (shochu highball) from Nomikui Doraku, CHU-HIGH by waltz

This shochu highball is made by pouring fresh fruit juice in a glass filled with alcohol. Pieces of fruit are usually added on top of the drink, but sometimes, they’re stacked in multiple layers, as is done with the
Lemon Tower. Thanks to the Kinmiya Shochu, a Japanese distilled spirit, infused in the beverage, you can enjoy its fruity flavor to the fullest. It’s also pretty IG-worthy!

Cozy café waltz transforms into a chuhigh bar from 5 p.m. onwards. Its wide-open space will guarantee that your stay will be very comfortable.

A sour alcoholic fruit drink brimming with fruit bits from Meat Marche M

Meat Marche M’s
blend of dry alcohol and sweet fruits make for a wonderful and sharp combination. They make use of domestic lemons with edible skin in creating their sour and cold, lemon drink. Our tip: Try to finish your drink. Management believes it’s good manners not to leave any leftovers.

This has private rooms where couples can enjoy their drinks.

Meat Marche M
is located at 3-23-11, Sakae, Naka Ward, Nagoya City, Aichi. They’re open from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. on weekdays (except Mondays), and 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.and 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. on weekends.
