You Have to Try These Spicy Hot Pot Dishes in Nagoya
Can you take the heat?
The winter season is the perfect time to eat spicy food in Japan. These hot dishes don’t just keep you warm, but also increase your metabolism. In this article, we introduce two restaurants that serve spicy comfort food that you wouldn’t want to miss.
Yakuzen Aka Dak Hanmari
The dak hanmari is a Korean dish that contains a lot of collagen and involves boiling a chicken whole. Seoul Kitchen’s Yakuzen Aka Dak hanmari (¥4,380) was originally a secret menu item before becoming one of the restaurant’s original dishes.
This dish consists of Kinso-dori, a local brand of poultry, and chige miso, which is made from several kinds of red peppers and miso. The longer the soup in this dish is boiled, the more the flavors come out.
The restaurant stops serving this hot pot dish as soon as it is sold out, so make sure that you order earlier in the day.
Seoul Kitchen is located at 1-2-29, Higashisakura, Higashi District, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. It is open from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily, except on Sundays and lunchtime of national holidays
The Sanmi Yakuzen Soup (¥2,138) consists of three kinds of soup and contains more than 10 herbal medicines inside it.
When talking about spicy Chinese hot pot specialties, the Huo Guo is the most popular among locals and tourists in Japan. At SHANGRI-LA, their most famous spicy huo guo dish consists of three kinds of soup, including the delicious Mala Hontan, which is made from huge Chinese hot peppers. For people who like spicy food, we recommend that you add powdered habanero (additional ¥216, spiciness level 3) for that extra kick.
You can also order their Assorted Meats (¥2,138) and 10 kinds of vegetables (¥1,382).
SHANGRI-LA is located at the 4/F Rainbow Ikeshita Building, 2-12-4, Nakata, Chikusa District, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. It is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily except on Mondays and lunchtime from Tuesday to Thursday. Making reservations before visiting the restaurant is required.
