Starbucks Just Opened Their Biggest Branch in Japan
Another reason to go to Tokyo!
Starbucks has been leading the café boom since its first shop opened in 1996. Last February 27, Starbucks Coffee Japan held a press conference for their newest flagship store known as the Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo. It is the largest four-story shop in Japan with a roaster machine, Japan’s first landing Italian bakery, a tea beverage brand bar, and a cocktail bar serving original cocktails.
Moreover, the shop’s four-story building design is the first in Japan and the fifth in the world. It was officially opened to the public last February 28 at Nakameguro, Tokyo.
Inside the shop, you can observe the entire process of raw coffee beans being transformed into dripped coffee and enjoy various combinations of coffee-alcohol beverages and pastries.
Princi opened for the first time in Japan.
Cocktails are available at the TEAVANA on the second floor.
The first floor inside the branch holds the main coffee bar and popular Italian bakery Princi, which serves bread and pizzas made with the finest ingredients.
On the second floor, you’ll find the TEAVANA bar, and on the third, the ARRIVIAMO BAR, where you can drink original coffee and tea cocktails.
In addition to enjoying the beverages and food, you can also watch the coffee beans being packed on the fourth floor. Going here will make you feel like you’re taking a Starbucks factory tour.

Another aspect that makes this Starbucks flagship store unique is its carefully designed interiors, spaces, and location. The shop is about 1,200 square meters big and is located right in front of the Meguro River, where hundreds of cherry blossoms bloom during the springtime.

The building was designed by Kengo Kuma, the same architect who designed the New National Stadium and Starbucks Coffee Dazaifu Tenmangu Omotesando Branch. Wood is an element that’s used a lot in the building’s interiors.
The branch’s wood interiors match perfectly with the scent of coffee.
Takafumi Mizuguchi, the CEO of Starbucks Japan, described the new shop as “a coffee wonderland”.
“Since Starbucks opened in Japan 23 years ago, there is something we have been cherishing. It is the passion for coffee, the connection with our customers, and commitment to the communities all over Japan. We hope we can deliver new excitement at this coffee wonderland,” says Takafumi Mizuguchi, CEO of Starbucks Japan.
It has been 23 years since the first Starbucks shop opened in Ginza. While many coffee shops exist in Japan now, the newest Starbucks branch promises its customers a world-class experience through their high-quality roasted coffee, sophisticated cocktails, and freshly baked pizzas and breads.
