These Udon Restaurants in Fukuoka Are Open Until Late at Night
Satisfy your late-night noodle cravings!
Most locals in Japan like capping the night off after drinking by eating at a ramen or udon restaurant nearby. As such, we feature different udon restaurants, located in the Nakasu area of Fukuoka, which you can easily visit in the middle of the night.
Inaho to Ikkei
Udon restaurant Utau Inaho and motsunabe (hot pot containing entrails) restaurant Motsunabe Ikkei have joined forces in Inaho to Ikkei. The soup stock and ingredients of both restaurants are used to create new dishes like the Gyu-suji-kushi (skewered beef sinew) and Yasai Nikumaki (vegetable wrapped meat) which you shouldn’t miss.
Aside from this, the restaurant also offers reasonable motsunabe sets and an all-you-can-drink course, making it suitable for parties.
Chikuwa Ten Udon (Deep-fried fish paste udon, ¥648)
A dreamy combination of two famous restaurants! You can enjoy the Hakata specialty all at once.
Inaho to Ikkei is located at 14-6, Kamikawabata Town, Hakata District, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka and is open from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m. daily except on Sundays. You may contact them at +81-92-710-5535.
Tsukiyoshi is a popular store that has been serving delicious udon and alcoholic drinks for 15 years now. They offer a wide variety of high-quality dishes, with more than 80 kinds of dishes ranging from ¥324 to ¥540 and more than 16 kinds of udon.
Among their must-try dishes are the Sashi-mori (Assorted sashimi, ¥540) and Kamatama (Straight-from-the-pot udon, ¥594).
The restaurant is full even on weekdays!
Tsukiyoshi is located at 5-7, Susaki-cho, Hakata District, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka and is open from 6:10 p.m. to 12 a.m. daily except Sundays and national holidays, and until 11 p.m. on Saturdays. You may contact them at +81-922-82-4030.
Sushi Iwamasa has been running for 35 years and has a good reputation for its famous Negima Nabe (stew based on spring onions and tuna). Its sister restaurant, Udon Ganbee, was born out of the realization that most customers liked the nabe dish only.
Part of the reason why it’s so popular is that its thin Inaniwa udon noodles and fragrant stock sit comfortably in the stomach even after a night of drinking. Other equally delicious dishes that you should try are the tacos and boiled gyoza.
Negima Udon (¥1,300)
Udon Ganbee is a 4-5-1, Nakasu, Hakata District, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka and is open from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. daily except on Sundays and national holidays. You may contact them at +81-922-81-0134.
Udon Izakaya Tsuru
Udon Izakaya Tsuru is the sister store of Grulla, a Japanese meal bar in Hirao. Their Shimabara Udon and Shimabara Nyumen are made using the rich flavors of Makurazaki dried bonito, Rishiri kombu, and flying fish. You should also try their craft beer and natural wine produced in Japan.
Ebi Nyumen (thin noodles with shrimp in warm soup, ¥900)
Udon Izakaya Tsuru is located at 1/F, Gallery Yamamoto Building, 3-6-7, Nakasu, Hakata District, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka and is open from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. daily except on Sundays. You may contact them at +81-92-263-6594.
Udon Bar Kaine
Udon Bar Kaine is a bar that’s adjacent to a guest house that was formerly a traditional townhouse. They have more than 50 kinds of food items on their menu. Their core dish - udon - is homemade from natural stock with Rishiri kombu, dried small sardines, and four kinds of dried bonito. Most of the sake brands that they serve come from Fukuoka. On the other hand, their wine is reasonably priced since you can enjoy a bottle starting at ¥1,944.
Mentai Butter Ontama (Soft boiled egg with spicy cod roe and butter, ¥750)
Udon Bar Kaine is located at 5-8, Susaki-cho, Hakata District, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka and is open from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. daily except on Sundays and national holidays. You may contact them at +81-80-3982-5303.
