The Yame District in Kyushu is quite popular for its delicious assortment of tea desserts. There, you can find different shops offering traditional and western sweets made out of Yame Tea such as cheesecakes and manjus (jam-filled buns).
Below, we list down the best places to get your sugar fix:
Kashidokoro Kikuya sells different types of confectionery, like manju made with traditional techniques and Japanese sweets consisting of seasonal flavors. Other sweets made with the flavorful Yame Tea are the yokan (sweet bean jelly), monaka (bean jam-filled wafers), and ice cream.
Chacha Pudding (¥300)
Established in 1902, this place is one of the oldest Japanese style confectionery shops in the area.

Ryushodo Yame Branch
Ryushodo is known for its Kehogi, which is a treat that represents the Yame District. It is a manju with a crispy outer layer made with lots of butter and peanut butter and is topped with walnuts. Inside is a chewy egg yolk bean paste mixed with rich whipped cream.
Aside from that, the store also offers popular items like the Ochaman manju and the Chasouro mochi dessert. Both of these sweets are made with the famous Yame Tea.
The Matcha Castella (Japanese sponge cake) is sold at ¥130.

All products in the Yamecha sweets Natsume store are made with Yame Tea. Trained in both Japanese and western sweets-making, the owner uses sencha (middle-grade green tea), matcha, houjicha (roasted green tea), and other types of Yame Tea products to make the desserts.

Just newly opened last November, the Cafe & zakka 168 -kupukupu- has an ambiance that instantly makes you feel at home. The owner, who is a huge fan of Korea, often goes there to procure condiments and Korean seaweed, which are used in the authentic meals served at the cafe. The curry and pasta meals are among the most popular menu items there.
Korean seaweed bento lunch (¥1,200)
At night, the cafe transforms into a bar where you can enjoy craft beers and about 15 different kinds of wine.
