Taishusushi Toyosu
2-7-14 Sonezaki, Kita District, Osaka
Contact; +81-6-6809-6092
Open daily from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m.
How to get there: It's a two-minute walk from Higashiumeda Station of Osaka Metro Tanimachi Line.

Taishusushi Toyosu
is Umeda's largest sushi restaurant and has a total of six floors open for its dining guests. Its menu ranges from the standard nigiri sushi to the unconventional sushi, with prices starting from ¥86. Aside from that, the restaurant also offers about 50 different dishes.

Aside from the nigiri sushi, you should try their fried bean curd rolls (on the right) such as the avocado salmon, eel butter (¥410 each), and prawns (¥518).

There are seven types of
agemaki (fried bean curd rolls) available at the restaurant. They are made with ingredients like seafood and sweet and spicy eel covered with butter. The fried bean curd in the rolls is only mildly flavored so as not to overpower the flavors of the ingredients.

Meanwhile, the
nigiri is made with carefully selected fresh fish slices and green onion sprouts wrapped in flounder fat.

We recommend that you also have a taste of the restaurant's
Taikama-yaki (¥842), which highlights an oven-cooked red snapper. The Anago no Yanagawa-fu (¥734), a sweet and spicy hot pot dish with steamed conger eel and egg, is also a must-try. Our tip: Try garnishing it with Japanese pepper to add flavor to the dish.

The second and third floors are for table seating while the fifth and sixth floors are best for banquets.

"We have private rooms that can fit 20 people, so you can use them for banquets! We also offer courses that use seasonal ingredients, such as puffer fish and pots, and menus that will suit your budget," says the shop owner,
Misato Noto.
