This Tea Shop in Tokyo Lets You Add Pearls to Your Latte Drinks

The tapioca craze around the world is showing no signs of stopping soon. In Japan, you'll practically see them
everywhere—in milk tea drinks, desserts, and even on top of pancakes


And while these luxurious treats might seem expensive, the country also offers several cheaper alternatives. (This doesn't make them any less delicious though!) 



Located two minutes from Harajuku Station in Tokyo,
Ichika (which literally means "one thousand flowers") is opening its very first store which will specialize in high-quality tea, beverages, and fresh tapioca. It will source its high-quality tea leaves from the Kagoshima Prefecture. 


The Kagoshima area is said to have the ideal conditions for tea production. Their tea leaves, like the Kirishima and Chiran, are characterized by a rich taste and color. Tea leaves that come from this place are believed to be the best in Japan.


In partnership with TeaRoom Co., the tea shop created a blend that's fragrant and has a subtle sweetness. 


Fresh tapioca


Fresh tapioca, which is made in-house, is also prepared daily. It is only lightly sweetened to preserve the flavor of the high-quality tea.

You can request for add-ons such as
fresh tapioca for ¥50 or fresh tapioca double for ¥100.
