Toufa, a Taiwanese dessert made from soymilk is popular now! The silky texture and homemade syrups are attracting so many people. In this article, we will introduce famous shops where you can sample this delicacy! 


Genki Sabou, a Taiwanese specialty restaurant where you can enjoy homemade peanut soymilk toufa


This Taiwanese specialty restaurant is run by the owner who got attracted by the Taiwan local teahouse. They provide Taiwan tea, herb tea, classic food, and homemade sweets that add a touch to the local taste. Toufa here is made with original soymilk so you can enjoy the rich scent and taste.


Toufa (Soy Pudding) (¥700)


Blended soymilk is filtered beforehand so it’s silky. You can slightly feel the black sugar and ginger in the syrup.


Original soymilk is extracted from boiled peanuts and soymilk.


Many colorful pictures hang on the wall inside the shop. There are also low tables for people with children, too.


There is a cute handwritten menu board by the entrance.


“We also recommend herbal tea (¥700) that we blend for each customer from about 52 kinds of herbs. We have a set (¥1,200) of toufa and Taiwan tea as well,” says the owner,
Haseba Nobuhiro.

Chun Shui Tang Grand Front Osaka Branch, where you can customize the topping to make your favorite toufa


This Taiwanese café opened as a Taiwanese tea specialty shop and is popular as the original shop for bubble tea. There are many items on their menu and their toufa is delicious. It uses jasmine-based syrup, so it has a rich flavor and makes the most of the scent of soybeans.


The most popular is toufa with tapioca, mango, strawberries, and azuki topping (¥700)


The most popular are these four toppings. The toufa itself doesn’t have much sweetness, so you can taste the soybeans directly.


You can choose from seven toppings like fruits (¥50 each). Toufa is ¥500.


The interior has an Asian modern taste.


“We strictly keep the quality, so we only use tapioca toppings that are made within the last three hours,” says the staff,
Onoda Aiko.

Tenfuku Meicha, a silky toufa handmade by the owner from Taiwan!


This is a sister branch of
Ten Ren’s Tea, a Chinese tea specialty shop. It’s in Nankin Town and you can enjoy Chinese tea as well as the popular toufa handmade by the owner from Taiwan. You can take out this toufa made from organic soybeans produced in Japan.


Toufa (¥600) Tapioca topping is ¥50.


The owner tried to make toufa softer than tofu, so it’s surprisingly jiggly. The soybean flavor is also intense.


This toufa becomes one of a kind by stirring the soymilk at 70 to 80 degrees.


There are tea dishes bought from Taiwan inside the shop.


“The homemade syrup is also just like the local one with trithermal sugar as the base accentuated with black sugar. The tender sweetness matches toufa perfectly,” says the staff,
Moriuchi Fumie.
