Japan Welcomes Its Very First Specified Skills Worker in the Accommodation Industry
The worker simply switched from a student visa in Japan.
The accommodation industry finally welcomed its first Specified Skills Worker (SSW) last August 28, 2019, as announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism.
The Vietnamese international was granted the visa after switching from a student visa in Japan. The worker is expected to begin employment in the accommodation industry in Nara Prefecture, specializing in departments such as the front desk, planning and PR, customer relations, and restaurant services.
The SSW visa category was only recently launched last April 1 of this year. It aims to answer the serious problem of limited labor in Japan. The new category allows foreigners to work in 14 different industries.
