You Can Actually Rent Brand-New Clothes in Japan
Say hello to IG-worthy OOTDs!
In countries with four seasons like Japan, fashion trends change as often as the weather. When walking around the city, you’ll see many of the locals sporting stylish clothes that are both on-season and on-trend. But as much as you want to make your OOTD dreams come true and wear something trendy all the time, buying different pieces of clothing can be very expensive.
In Japan, however, there is a clothing rental subscription service called MECHAKARI that allows you to rent brand-new clothes on a fixed monthly rate. Their basic fee costs ¥5,800 per month. You can choose three pieces of items per transaction, but there is no limit as to how many times you want to rent.
Returning the clothes is also very easy since they don’t require you to wash them before returning. You can simply return the clothes through convenience stores and pay the service fee of ¥380. If there are items that you loved and don’t wish to return, you can also buy them at a discounted price.
MECHAKARI offers its customers a wide array of clothing options from several Japanese clothing brands. You can rent tops, outer garments, bottoms, dresses, and even bags and accessories there. Now you never have to worry about what clothes to wear per season or for your everyday OOTDs in Japan!
