Shiseido’s Tokyo Showroom Will Change the Way You Shop for Makeup

Last May 13, the famous Japanese beauty brand,
Shiseido, opened its newest showroom, S/PRESS (pronounced “espress”), in Tokyo’s Hamamatsu-cho area. There, visitors can have an immersive shopping experience using the latest digital technology.


Customers can search for beauty-related content and find products customized to their needs using a large touch panel screen, along with the IoT skin care system
Optune.



In recent years, the term “beauty technology” has become a popular trend in the beauty industry. For Shiseido, one of their goals for their VISION2020 plans is strengthening their digital domain. Since
Shiseido Japan Co., Ltd. moved its office to Hamamatsu-cho this month, the company has better perceived the customer’s reaction to their products on a daily basis.


The brand’s touch screen digital signage was done in collaboration with
teamLab, who handled the teamLab Borderless, a digital art exhibit found among the newer must-see spots in Tokyo. On the other hand, Optune is an IoT-based system that provides skin care information tailored to fit every unique skin condition. Meanwhile, the Makeup Simulator allows you to try out the latest makeup on your very own smartphone. How cool is that?
