It’s almost December, and a sparkling and glamorous season is coming. Let’s look back at the year’s best illumination spots. The ranking is from the access ranking of Walkerplus Illumination Guide.
1st place: Tokyo Midtown’s MIDTOWN CHRISTMAS 2019
Space is expressed in “Starlight Garden 2019”
This annual illumination is close to the station, so you can enjoy dynamic and fantastic lighting production in the middle of Tokyo. The main illumination “Starlight Garden” which features an image of space with blue LED light bulbs as the base is here again. In addition to 190,000 LED and 100 lit balloons, a space tower eight meters high and two types of bubbles will create a fantastic atmosphere. From November 26 to December 18, “Bubble Illumination,” which combines two types of bubbles and lighting balloons, will be held.
Tokyo Midtown’s MIDTOWN CHRISTMAS 2019 is located at 9-7-1 Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo and is held from November 14 to December 25. It lights up from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. (different in each area).
2nd place: Osaka Castle Park’s Osaka Illuminage
LED neon will be seen along with illumination this year at “Osaka Illuminage”
“Osaka Illuminage,” which 130,000 people visited last year, is happening again this year. Enjoy a journey back in time by way of lights as this year’s theme is “Taisho Roman.” The “Big Osaka Period” in which Osaka sparkled the most will be expressed with three million lights with Osaka Castle as its backdrop.
Osaka Castle Park’s Osaka Illuminage is located at 2 Osaka-jo, Chuo-ku, Osaka City, Osaka and is held from November 22 to March 1, 2020. It lights up from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
3rd place: Country Farm Tokyo German Village’s Winter Illumination Tobidase! Picopico Dream World ~Play & Smile~

The illumination which covers the whole park in light is beautiful. An illumination with the image of the world of games in the ‘80s will be seen. You will experience more interactive lights this year. You can enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere that takes you back to the old days of game centers.
Country Farm Tokyo German Village’s Winter Illumination Tobidase! Picopico Dream World ~Play & Smile~ is located at 419 Nagayoshi, Sodegaura City, Chiba and is held from November 1 to April 5, 2020. It lights up from sunset to 8 p.m. (last entrance 7:30 p.m.).
4th place: Ohi Keibajo’s TOKYO MEGA ILLUMINATION
You can enjoy the fantastic atmosphere at the new “Forest of Aurora”

This year, there are new illuminations, such as “Forest of Aurora” with full-color laser and tree illuminations, plus a dynamic entertainment of water and light “Large Fountain of Rainbow Lights.” The “Twinkle Mega Tree Area” with the theme “TWINKLE” that symbolizes the night of Ohi Racecourse, and “Time Travel Area” which expresses the Edo era to the Showa era, transforms everything into fantasy.
Oi Keibajo’s TOKYO MEGA ILLUMINATION is located at 2-1-2 Katsushima, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo and is held from October 5 to March 29, 2020. It lights up from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (January 24 to March 29, 2020) and 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (November 1 to January 19, 2020). Last entrance is at 8:30 p.m. (Open hours may change due to the racing schedule.)
5th place: Izu Granpal Amusement Park’s Experience-illumination “Izukogen Grand Illumination ~5th Season~”

There will be more light attractions and night spots in the 5th season. Starting with “Dino Age Walk” and “Dino Age Kart,” which has lit moving dinosaurs in actual size. The park will lead you beyond your expectations by gliding above illuminations in “Zip line ~RYUSEI~.” Out of the three illumination shows, “Full Color Laser Show” expanded the area and is powered up to let visitors see the lights from anywhere in the park.
Izu Granpal Amusement Park’s Experience-illumination “Izukogen Grand Illumination ~5th Season~” is located at 1090 Futo, Ito City, Shizuoka and is held on October 19 to August 31, 2020. It lights up from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in November. Time will change during the term, so please check the official website.
