You Have to Visit These Beautiful Illumination Spots This Winter in Shibuya
Make your holidays memorable in winter wonderland.
Many people visit the Shibuya area of Tokyo, Japan on their way home from the winter year-end and New Year party. In the evening, you can visit a lot of popular illumination spots such as the Aonodokutsu SHIBUYA (Blue Cave Illumination) and new ones launched this year. Spend a romantic evening as you walk around the city filled with beautiful sparkling light.
Aonodokutsu SHIBUYA (from late November)
A sound genic production will be performed in conjunction with sound and light.
Aonodokutsu SHIBUYA illumination spot has been around since 2016. This illumination show is about 800 meters high of Zelkova trees colored with about 600,000 blue LED lights. Last year, it successfully attracted 2.8 million visitors. The illumination shines at random waves from the back to fascinate people.
Aonodokutsu SHIBUYA’s tentative event area will be at Yoyogi Park and Shibuya Koendori. You can find it at Yoyogi Kamizonocho and 2-chome Jinnan, Shibuya District, Tokyo. The illumination exhibit is open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily (tentative).
SHIBUYA FUKURAS (from December 5 to January 31, 2020)
Recently opened landmark SHIBUYA FUKURAS.
The 18-story redevelopment building SHIBUYA FUKURAS will be lit up with beautiful sparkling lights on December 5. A special version of the illumination with various colors will only be available this winter so we highly recommend for you to take the opportunity to see it firsthand.
SHIBUYA FUKURAS is located at 1-2-3 Dogenzaka, Shibuya District, Tokyo.
Shibuya River Street Illumination (from November 21 to January 31, 2020)
Shibuya River Street Illumination.
This illumination show shines over 400 meters long from Inari Bridge that directly connects SHIBUYA STREAM to SHIBUYA BRIDGE. This brilliantly lit street appears on the promenade from the SHIBUYA STREAM area to the Namiki Bridge. Various decorations are also installed at the entrance of surrounding facilities along the river. Events around the area are also in the midst of planning so you will definitely have zero worries about finding something fun to do in this place.
Shibuya River Street Illumination can be found at the Shibuya River Promenade (Tentative). This area is located at 3 Shibuya, Shibuya District, Tokyo. It is open from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily, however, this is still not the final.
Shibuya PARCO (opens on November 22)

The new Shibuya PARCO will also be illuminated with dazzling lights on its outer passages from the first floor to the 10th. Details are still undecided, but since it is a representative of Shibuya culture before the renewal, you can still look forward to the showcase of lights.

SHIBUYA CAST (from November 21, 2019, to February 2, 2020)

SHIBUYA CAST’s theme for their third illumination this 2019 is “Warmth.” There will also be workshops and garage sales available around the area arranged organizers and other locals.
