This Onsen Has the Most Amazing Views of Mt. Fuji
It's not called a hot spring in the sky for nothing.

Visiting a Japanese hot spring or onsen definitely deserves to be on your Japan bucket list, but while there are many beautiful hot springs in the country, you might as well visit one that comes with a spectacular view.
Located on the slope of a mountain in the Yamanashi Prefecture, Hottarakashi Onsen gives you a view of the majestic Mt. Fuji, 700m above sea level. From the bath called Kocchi no Yu, you're faced with Mt. Fuji in all its glory. From Acchi no Yu, you have a view of the mountain and the Kofu basin.
As if that doesn't sound romantic enough, Hottarakashi also means hinayaan in Tagalog. When the onsen you're visiting literally means hinayaang hot spring or abandoned hot spring, you know you're in for an experience of a lifetime.
Our tip: Wake up early to enjoy the onsen, and then head over to the observatory terrace to order the Asa Gohan Set (¥500). This includes koshihikari rice, miso soup, raw egg, and fermented soybeans called natto. Nothing beats a wonderful meal after a nice, relaxing bath.
