Hakatamachiya Guesthouse Kaine’s rustic ambiance is popular with domestic travelers and foreign backpackers. The rooms are divided into male and female dormitories, twin rooms, triple rooms, and more. Aside from being reasonably priced, it is also close to Central Fukuoka’s Tenjin and Nakazu, and is recommended for those who plan to do a lot of sightseeing in Fukuoka and Kyushu.
The building is built in the traditional Hakata style, the warmth of the wood and the stone paving making it look somewhat refined. The name “Kaine” comes from the saying kaiwai no oto ni mimi wo sumasu, which roughly translates to “the ears listen carefully to the surrounding sounds.” Located away from the hustle and bustle of the city, in Susakimachi, it’s a great place to slow down and relax.

The male dormitory can hold up to six people per room (¥2,600 per person), while the female dormitory can hold up to four people per room (¥2,600 per person). In January, February, July, August, and September, the dormitories are priced at ¥2,700 per person. The twin room (regular, ¥6,500), twin room (single use, ¥4,500 yen), and the triple room (¥8,500) are also pretty affordable.

The guest house is in a great location, with access to the business district, Tenjin and Fukuoka airport, and JR Hakata Station. The bike rental for city tours (Limited to two bikes, ¥500 for a whole day and ¥300 from 5 p.m.) is also convenient!
