Here’s Everything That Happened at the Recent The Best of Anime 2018
In case you missed it!
Think Japan, and the words kawaii, manga, and anime immediately come to mind. Who doesn’t know of Sailor Moon’s iconic Moon Prism Power Makeup transformation or the Straw Hat Pirates’ misadventures to help Luffy become the Pirate King? These are both, by the way, now featured attractions at Universal Studios Japan! What about the mecha phenomenon brought about by classics like Voltes V and the Gundam Series? In fact, there's even a Gundam Base in Tokyo for those who want to see the largest Gunpla kits in real life!
Right here in the Philippines, the anime fan base is just as big. In a bid to celebrate all things anime, The Best of Anime convention was born. Now on its ninth year, #BOA2018 was held at the SMX Convention Center last August 25 to 26, and Filipino fans were certainly not disappointed with this year’s festivities.
Convention-goers got to witness special performances by international and local J-pop artists alike.

For this year’s Ongaku Fest, the gender-bending vocalist Valshe and legendary band An Cafe double-billed the event and really made the crowd go wild with their music as well as their commendable Filipino-speaking mid-set banter.

The first Filipino-created anime, Barangay 143, was also unveiled at #BOA2018 with Cheska Garcia-Kramer, Scarlet Kramer, and Kendra Kramer lending their voices to new anime characters together with dad Doug Kramer.

Now, what anime convention is complete without otakus displaying their creativity from awesome cosplays to cool and adorable merch?
People were having a total blast, and who can blame them? There was no shortage of sights to see and things to do at The Best of Anime 2018. The convention floor was packed with activity booths and free arcade games to boot!
So...who’s psyched for more? See you next year, fellow otakus!
