This Japanese Village Will Take You Back in Time
Relive the time of the Samurai.
Nikko Edo Village
470-2 Karakura, Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture
Open daily from 9am to 5pm (operating hours may change per season)
They say that walking in someone else’s shoes, or in this case, geta, is a great way to gain a new perspective.
At Nikko Edo Village, a beautiful replica of a Japanese village during the Edo period in the Tochigi Prefecture in Northeast Japan, you’re given a chance to do so literally when you dress up in Edo citizen and Samurai costumes.
As you make your way through the “ancient” village, be on the lookout for Samurai residences and water mills; make sure to catch some of the shows, too!
