This May Be the Best Time to See Mt. Fuji
The view alone is worth the trip.
In Japan, a stunning phenomenon called the Diamond Fuji, where the sun directly sets on top of Mt. Fuji, happens between the period of autumn and winter. To celebrate this, events are usually held in the area. This year, the Yamanakako DIAMOND FUJI WEEKS event is going to be held from February 1 to 22, when the climate in the area is comparatively stable.
The sun aligning with the peak of Mt. Fuji creates a fairytale-like scene.
The event is held in areas where you can clearly view the Diamond Fuji such as the Yamanaka Yanajiri and Tsukuba Daigaku Ryomaehama.
Besides this, you can also experience Mt. Fuji’s silhouette against a thousand ice candles at the Ice Candle Festival on February 16, 2019.
The ice candles on the lake shore make for a romantic background.
It gets really cold after the sunset, so make sure that you bring winter clothes to keep you warm!
