Ama Beach is a resort in Japan that's popular for its palm leaves and smooth, white sand spanning 600 meters in length. The beach is complete with shower spaces, toilets, walkways, and free parking lots. Aside from this, it is also home to a couple of breakwaters, as well as sea fireflies that come out every night.
From this spot of the beach, you can see the Shikoku area. The beach is not too crowded and only takes about an hour to travel to from the city.
Kids will have fun running around and playing along the spotless seashore.
The sand is so smooth that you can walk around the beach barefoot without getting hurt.
You will notice how clean the water really is once you scoop it in your hands.
Behind the parking lot, there is a green space with palm leaves that's a perfect spot for putting up a tent.
There are cottages along the beach where you can take a rest in.
Another feature worth looking forward to is the beach's breakwaters, where colorful and Instagrammable paintings, drawn by elementary school students, can be found.
It makes for a great photo background!
In addition to this, people staying at nearby hotels may get a glimpse of the sea fireflies at night.
The magical lights from the sea fireflies start appearing as soon as the sun sets.
The sea fireflies produce a white-blue color whenever they can sense harm or are surprised. At night, the sea looks like a planetarium, where floating magical lights lull you into a relaxed and calm state.
Overall, it's a great beach to spend time at with the family, with its clear waters and smooth white sand. There are plenty of things to do here including collecting seashells along the seashore and watching little fishes by the rocks.
Besides the beach, another family-friendly place that you can visit in Minami Awaji City is the Uzu no Oka Onaruto Memorial Hall.
