This Mall in Japan Makes It Easier for Pinoys to Shop

Miscommunication will cease being a problem.

According to a survey by the Japan Tourism Agency in 2018, one of the biggest challenges tourists face in Japan is shopping and communicating with the staff.
Aeon, a popular chain of shopping malls located in many prefectures, is changing all that. Here are some of the improvements you can expect the next time you visit.

Communicate in your mother tongue.

Multi-language video communication interpretation services allow all parties to understand each other.

Aeon installed tablets and smartphones in their shopping malls to help customers communicate their needs with ease. It works in 10 languages, including Tagalog and English!

Take advantage of their tax-free promo.

In August 2018, the number of Aeon brand stores and Aeon’s subsidiary stores nationwide that introduced the tax-free system for foreigners has expanded to around 850 stores. In October 2019, retail tax will be raised to 10 percent from 8 percent. Note that you have to purchase up to a certain amount before you can avail the tax-free offer.

There are discount coupons.

Aeon also gives special discount coupons only for foreigners. You can use them in many Aeon brand stores and Aeon’s subsidiary stores as well!

You can go cashless.

Credit cards and IC payment systems aside, cashless mobile payment systems like
Alipay® and WeChat Pay have now been introduced in their stores. Shop with ease without having to use cash.

Aeon sells a wide range of products from retail commodities to everyday needs. You can shop for clothes and buy all the pasalubong
you need at a value-for-money price point. Make sure to check Aeon out on your next visit to Japan.
