These Terrace View Photos in Japan Are Leaving Us Breathless
We're at a loss for words!
In Japan, you don’t have to travel very far for a chance to relax in a beautiful café or spend a luxurious holiday with the most magnificent views. In fact, there are a number of spots in the country that are easily accessible and are perfect for your weekend trips.
Below, we list down the best places to recharge and spend a quick weekend getaway in Japan:
Biwako, or Lake Biwa, is the largest, and one of the most prominent lakes in Japan. From the Biwako Terrace, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Biwako Valley.
In addition to this, you can try out different outdoor activities, like zip lining, at the summit of the mountain. The beautiful sun, reflected on the lake during the afternoon, lets you admire the water’s rich, blue color.
You can get a full view of Lake Biwa here.
The north terrace opened last summer in 2018. It offers a great view of the enormous lake.
Biwako Valley Ropeway will bring you up the summit of the mountain in five minutes (Round trip for adults is ¥2,500).
The Gelato Single (¥450/piece) is available at the terrace café.
Biwako Terrace is located at 1547-1, Kido, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture and is open from 9:10 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. You may contact them at +81-77-592-1155.
Yokoyama Tenboudai (Yokoyama Lookout Point)
One of the best rias shorelines in Japan -- the Ago Bay -- is visible from the Yokoyama Tenboudai. In 2018, three observatories were renovated and transformed into this wooden terrace. Here, you can enjoy a spectacular view that’s been recognized and awarded by the Michelin Green Guide Japan.
Take a moment to relish the spectacular view of the bay!
A comfortable breeze passes through the Soyo-kaze Terrace, which is located on the hill.
There is also a wide-space café covered with full-length glass walls here.
Yokoyama Tenboudai (Yokoyama Lookout Point) is located at 875-20, Ugata Ago-cho, Shima City, Mie Prefecture and is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You may contact them at +81-599-44-0567.
Mt. Zao Observatory Platform
The Mt. Zao Observatory Platform has a magnificent, 360-degree view of the Mikawa Bay, Pacific Ocean, South Alps mountains, and Mt. Fuji. While it was included among the 100 best nightscapes in Japan, the place also offers equally stunning sunset views.
The terrace’s floor is illuminated at night and gives the impression of a river of stars.
The light gradation of the sunset will make you fall in love with the scenery.
Mt. Zao Observatory Platform is located at 1-46, Zao, Ura-cho, Tahara City, Aichi Prefecture and is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. You may contact them at +81-531-22-0426.
