The View From This Japanese Temple Looks Like a Painting
Rurikoin, a renowned temple situated at the foot of Mount Hiei, is surrounded by beautiful nature. It will be open for public viewing from April 15 to June 30, 2019. This public viewing is held twice a year -- once during spring, when the leaves have a fresh green color, and the other during autumn, highlighting the brown, red, and yellow foliage.
The spring scenery at Ruri no Niwa (Japanese-style garden), which represents the “Land of Happiness” in Buddhism, is reflected on the clear table of the second floor of Shoin (drawing room).
Enjoy a cup of green tea with Japanese sweets (¥1,000) while taking in the picturesque view.
"The trees in the garden of Rurikoin grew naturally on the mountain. You can enjoy the beauty of nature as it is, in harmony with the architectural beauty created by a master craftsman,” says chief deacon, Chisato Nakamura.
Rurikoin is located at 55 Kamitakanohigashiyama, Sakyo District, Kyoto and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may contact them at +81-75-781-4001. It is a 5-minute walk from Eizan Railway Yase-Hieizanguchi Station.
