Don’t Miss Your Chance to Ride the Thomas the Tank Engine in Japan
In case you missed it the first time around!
Oigawa Railway DAY OUT WITH THOMAS 2019
Thomas the Tank Engine and James the Red Engine will once again run along the Oigawa Railway in Shimada City, Shizuoka from June 22, 2019 to December 1, 2019. Train operations will run longer—a total of 87 days—compared to last year’s. The two trains will travel 37.2 kilometers from the Shin-Kanaya Station to the Sezu Station of the Oigawa Main Line.
This year, Fiery Flynn arrives at the Shin-Kanaya Maintenance Factory tour!
Within that period, Thomas Fair, featuring Percy, Hiro, Rusty, and Thomas’ friends, will be held at Senzu Station. Here, guests will enjoy sightseeing trips and will be welcomed by other friends of Thomas from Sodor.
Moreover, the Shin-Kanaya Maintenance Factory will hold a facility tour (¥500 for elementary school kids and above) where guests will get a free badge as a present, watch how Thomas the Tank Engine and James the Red Engine prepare for their departure, and see how the trains are serviced after a day’s worth of work, like cleaning their faces and refilling them with coal. During this tour, kids can also meet Fiery Flynn, a fire engine with a bright red body. (Note that Fiery Flynn will only be available from late June to early July.)
Thomas and James pass through picturesque mountains.
During the year, there are plans of building a photo spot in one portion of the facility beside Thomas the Tank Engine and adding other trial activities. Aside from the Thomas Fair entry ticket, a hardbound platform ticket will also be given to visitors as memorabilia.
