NARUTO creator Masashi Kishimoto is currently writing a new series. Illustrated by Akira Okubo, Samurai 8: Hachimaru-Den (The Tale of Hachimaru) revolves around a poor boy named Hachimaru who cannot live without a life-support device, never leaves the house, and plays online games every day. However, he dreams of becoming a “samurai” with a power that transcends the physical world.
Many posters were released to promote the series in Tokyo’s Shibuya area!
Kishimoto started the new Samurai 8: Hachimaru-Den four and a half years after his famous manga series, Naruto.
“I did announce it previously at the end of Jump Festa last year, but I was desperate to go beyond NARUTO! Also, if I have not been doing a weekly series for four years, I feel like an amateur. However, the pressure is also strong (laughs) so please bear with me (laughs). I know that it is also not good to be complacent, so I will do my best and make it work for the readers!” says Kishimoto.
The series was launched in the Weekly Shonen Jump last May 13, 2019.
