Tokyo Summerland Zekkei! Night Pool 2019
600 Kamiyotsugi, Akiruno District, Tokyo
Open from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. from July 13 to September 16, except from August 1 to 31, it is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m and some closed days.
The Zekkei! Night Pool 2019 was officially launched at Tokyo Summerland last July 13. This event, inspired by the world’s scenic heritage sites, highlights several night pools with breathtaking lighting effects. It is headed by its pioneer, Mr. Motoo Marumaru, who creatively transformed pools and attractions in the facility into spectacular sights.
Here’s a sneak peek of the attractions:
The facility’s indoor and outdoor areas are inspired by 10 of the world’s most scenic spots.
Blue Grotto (Italy) / Yuyu Daidokutsu
Yuyu Daidokutsu is transformed into the Blue Grotto of the island of Capri in Southern Italy.
This indoor hot bath is designed to look like an underground lake. The Yuyu Daidokutsu (great cave hot bath) is lit up in different shades of blue to replicate the sun shining through the seawater of Capri, Southern Italy’s Blue Grotto. The light-up here starts from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., which is a bit earlier compared to the other areas.
Cloud Forest (Singapore) / Palm Tree Way
Singapore’s resort park, Cloud Forest, is recreated in the Palm Tree Way.
The facility’s Palm Tree Way, which connects the park entrance to the outdoor pool, is illuminated to look like the Cloud Forest resort in Singapore. This year, the “waterfall of light” is added to the attraction, making it even more impressive.
Khom Loi (Thailand) / Tiki Garden
The Tiki Garden is inspired by Thailand’s Khom Loi festival.
At the Tiki Garden, Thailand’s Khom Loi festival is depicted through the use of numerous floating lanterns. Depending on the time of your visit and your location, you can see the lanterns’ reflection on the pool. A photo spot with a giant lantern is also installed in the area.
Wisteria Tunnel (Japan) / Super Deck Underpass
The Wisteria Tunnel is illuminated using a gradient effect.
The Wisteria Tunnel is located at a pathway to the outdoor pool area, Adventure Lagoon. The tunnel doesn’t only bear the violet color of wisteria flowers, but also other colors depending on the light-up program. Walking through this tunnel makes for a magical experience.
Banpo Bridge Rainbow Fountain (South Korea) / Fountain Archway
The Fountain Archway is designed to resemble Seoul’s Banpo Bridge Rainbow Fountain.
Seoul’s Banpo Bridge Rainbow Fountain is replicated in the Fountain Archway outdoor pool area. You can admire the tunnel created by the colorful water fountain from outside or take photos inside the arch as well!
Ice Cave (Russia) / Spring House
Warm up your bodies at the Spring House inspired by Russia’s Ice Cave.
At the Spring House, you can enjoy the quiet atmosphere of Russia’s Ice Cave while taking a dip in the warm bath. Aside from the colorful lighting effects, smoke mist is also sprayed in one-minute intervals to create that dream-like ambiance.
Aurora Lights (Iceland) and Niagara Falls (Canada) / Bashahouse (treehouse)
Watch the Aurora show while swimming in the pool.
This beautifully illuminated water spot is modeled after the Niagara Falls.
The Aurora Lights and Niagara Falls are simultaneously represented in the facility’s Bashahouse. It is a treehouse set up in the middle of the Beaver Lake outdoor pool. Every 15 minutes, two different types of lighting shows take place, which you can enjoy while in the pool or from the poolside area. On top of this, a never-before-seen light up performance is also held after the pool closes at around 8:05 p.m.
Waitomo Cave (New Zealand) / Great Journey
The Great Journey depicts New Zealand’s Waitomo Glowworm Cave.
For the first time this year, the Great Journey area is decorated with lights and designed after the Waitomo Glowworm Cave. Green lights illuminate the entire cave, tainting the pool water with an ethereal glow.
Champs-Élysées, Paris (France) / Thrill Mountain
The illumination spot, inspired by the Champs-Élysées in Paris, can be found at the entrance of the Thrill Mountain.
The park entrance looks a lot like the Champs-Élysées. In one part of the park, lasers and lights are used to color the area in different hues so you can enjoy the illumination even without getting in the pool.
Together with the opening of Zekkei! Night Pool 2019, five photo spots, created by a project team consisting of female staff members, were set up within the park. Themes of the photo spots include fantasy and Ukraine’s Tunnel of Love decorated with wisteria flowers. Make sure to take a photo for remembrance!
Time your photo right with the light effects!
Furthermore, you can also enjoy two types of fruity soda made with carbonated ice, and two types of hot fruit tea to warm up your body, at the Jim Beam Terrace near the Beaver Lake outdoor pool area. Have fun in the night pool while sipping on original Summerland drinks!
