Itinerary Guide: Things to Do in Saga Prefecture

Anyone up for a cave adventure?

If you’re looking to spend a laid-back afternoon away from the city, you can try going to Saga Prefecture. This area in Japan holds beautiful shrines and heritage sites that reflect the culture and history of the place. Not only that, the prefecture is also known for producing some of the most excellent traditional pottery in the country.

Want to know what else this place has to offer? We feature some interesting tourist spots that you should consider adding to your itinerary:

Enjoy the cool natural air at Nagano no Kazaana (Nagano Wind Cave).

Nagano no Kazaana
is a three-meter tall wind cave that’s found in the mountains of Nagano, Wakakicho. Since the temperature at the wind cave drops to as low as 6 to 9 °C throughout the year, it is the perfect place to visit on a hot day. The cool air blowing from the megalithic structure is as cold as the air coming from an air conditioner.

Cool air passes through the gaps between the rocks.

The cave has a narrow entrance, so be careful when entering.

The interior of the cave shows the bare structure of stones piled on top of each other.

Nagano no Kazaana is located at Nagano, Wakakicho, Takeo City, Saga Prefecture. You may contact them at +81-90-8915-6512.
